                             TOPIC 1 – IDENTIFY WORK
                                          REQUIREMENTS




                 ACCESS, INTERPRET AND APPLY HEIGHT SAFETY PROCEDURES
                          AND ENSURE THE WORK ACTIVITY IS COMPLIANT


               Approved workplace procedures provide you with the information you need to ensure
               your work practices are safe and in line with workplace policies. You (The user) will
               need  to  determine the appropriate method to access procedures at your workplace.
               They may  be provided to you as paper -based documents or made available on an
               intranet or in a mobile format.



               All  work  performed  at  height  must  be  conducted  in  site  safety  office  with  the
               organizational  or site requirements and any policies and procedures related to that
               organization. The  policies and procedures are written to ensure that all  work is
               performed in a strategic manner to ensure the safety and health of all workers entering
               the site. They assist is  ensuring that all outcomes are achieved in the safest possible
               manner and that no harm  comes  to  workers,  equipment,  the  work  area  or  the
               environment.



               Your induction to the site should outline all the requirements for you, and you should
               ensure that you follow all the requirements and procedures to keep you and other
               workers safe at all times. This will include safe access to and from the work area.

               Nationally recognized definition of working at heights is possibility of falling from
               one level to another level.


               Working at height procedures may include:
                         Risk assessment

                         Checking hazard controls

                         Checking safety equipment
                         Checking and adjusting hazard controls

                         Preventing suspension trauma

                         Applying first aid for suspension trauma

                         Reporting all hazards, incidents, and injuries
                         Fall prevention control methods
