IDENTIFY APPROVED METHODS OF MOVING TOOLS AND
EQUIPMENT TO WORK AREA AND MINIMISE POTENTIAL
HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH TOOLS AT HEIGHTS
Trying to carry heavy or bulky tools and equipment up to the work area can be very
dangerous, and you could lose your balance and f all or drop items down on people below.
Your workplace will have various procedures in place that you will need to follow to
ensure that you do not get injured or to ensure that if a tool is dropped from a height, it will
not fall on anyone and injure them.
Workplace procedures may include:
The use of:
o Conveyors
o Hoists
o Cranes
o Elevating work platforms
Keep tools safely secured on a tool belt or in a toolbox inside a work platform
Netting around the outside of the building to prevent falls and items dropping
Correctly lifting and carrying techniques
Not carrying items when climbing a ladder
The installation of guard railing should include toe boards or mesh infill to prevent tools,
materials and debris falling from the roof.
While working on height, some of the safest methods moving tools and equipment
to the work area are:
Use of Tool’s lifting bag.
Use of Lifting Crane
Use of EWP
