RIIWHS204E-Work safely at heights

 The minimum and maximum widths of platforms critical for stacking
materials and allowing access must be determined

 The required height, supporting surfaces and existing ground conditions

 Hoarding, shade cloth or brick guards requirements
 Location of access points and materials hoists

               ACCESS INSPECTION CHECKLIST

The access inspection checklist will ensure that equipment is maintained in a safe
working condition suitable for the job.

                 Access Inspection Checklist

                    1. Entry and exit
 Is there safe entry and exit to every platform?
 Are temporary stairways correctly installed?
 Are portable ladders of an industrial grade, serviceable and correctly installed?

 Are elevating platforms working correctly?
 Are entries, exits, and access platforms correct ly installed?
 Is there provision for material handling?
 Is access adequate to carry the specified loads?
 Are the access points effectively lit?

Regular maintenance, preventive checks, and inspections on all height access
equipment, including ladders must be scheduled and documented. Checks should be in
line with the relevant standards and manufacturer’s instructions. In the event that
manufacturer’s instructions are more comprehensive then they take precedence over
               the standards.
