Three-Strand Twisted Rope
Technique is important to preserve splice strength, even with basic three-strand
rope, which is sold in sizes ranging from ⅛ inches (3 to 50 mm) in diameter.
EYE SPLICE
This is the most common splice.
Take care that the tucks lie neatly, and that you
complete at least three or four rounds of tucks
(the Cordage Institute recommends a minimum of
four rounds of tucks for all splices in three-strand).
TOOLS & MATERIALS
Three-strand twisted rope
Swedish fid
Vinyl tape or whipping twine
Scissors or sharp knife
Hot knife or heat source
Ruler
Thimble (optional)
