3. Evidence of energy-efficient and sustainable building materials.
The Residence at Arbor Grove will be designed with energy efficiency at a top priority. Much of this is required for any competitive application to TDHCA. However we already include the following in our standard design: IEEC Building Insulation- wall & roof, HVAC systems, Energy Star Appliances, Energy Star rated Windows, Energy Star Ceiling Fans, LED lighting, Cond Unit Shading, and Water Efficient plumbing fixtures.
OPG also hires an energy consultant who will evaluate the plans prior to construction and work with the architect to increase the energy rating when possible.
• All of the HVAC condenser units are located so they are fully shaded 75% of the time during summer months (i.e. May through August) as certified by the design team at cost certification.
• Energy Star certified insulation products
• Energy Star appliances
• Energy Star ceiling fans
• Energy Star rated windows
• LED Lighting
• Install daylight sensor, motion sensors or timers on all exterior lighting and install fixtures that include automatic switching on timers or photocell controls for all lighting not intended for 24-hour operation or required for security;
• Install water-conserving fixtures that meet the EPA's WaterSense Label. Such fixtures must include low-flow or high efficiency toilets, bathroom lavatory faucets, shoewrheads and kitchen faucets. Rehabilitation Developments may install compliant faucet aerators instead of replacing the entire faucets;
