The Parent Club Breeders Development Committee
encouraged clubs to submit application for the
2026 EDDY Award ( The AKC Eddy Award is
designed to encourage and reward Parent Clubs that
demonstrate a significant breeder education effort:
website, workshop, mentoring, and more) and to
appoint a Breeder Ed Coordinator and make sure
AKC has the name and correct email of that person.

AKC has Breeder Education materials available on
its website. New webinars are added regularly to
Canine College.

There is a Legacy Breeder Resource Package,
The Legacy Breeder Project, for Parent Clubs
prepared by Delegate Katie Campbell. This contains
information about how to conduct these important
interviews.

The Purebred Preservation Bank has received
donations from 34 breeds. Parent Clubs are
encouraged to submit parameters for semen
donation.

Prior to the Delegate Meeting, there was a detailed
presentation on Strategic Planning. Clubs are
encouraged to have a Vision, a Mission, and
Objectives and to review and update them
regularly.

The financial report continues to
reflect financial losses, especially
from registrations.
The vote on the proposed
amendment that would have
changed the time period a Board
member must remain off the
Board before being eligible to
run again from one year to four
years was defeated. AKC Board
members can serve two four-year
terms and be nominated again
after a one-year hiatus.
