9.0 People
The Engineering Director (or equivalent) must:
Ensure the requirements of this standard are implemented accordingly.
Ensure that safety is taken into account at every stage of the vehicle maintenance and inspection
process to ensure that no new risks are introduced and that all safety requirements will be delivered.
Ensure that the tools and equipment required for repair and maintenance of safety critical defects to
the required standards are provided.
Ensure there are robust processes in place to meet compliance with environmental requirements.
Ensure that any employee, or any contractor, sourced to inspect vehicles, are trained and
competent.
Ensure that any local licencing to accredit competence is adopted and individuals inspecting
vehicles are trained and licenced accordingly.
Ensure Engineering Managers and supervisory staff, have the competence and authority to remove
vehicles from service where required.
Ensure Engineering Managers are aware of the requirements and the responsibility for signing off
vehicles as roadworthy following a routine service, inspection or repair.
Engineering Manager (or equivalent) must:
Ensure that all engineers required to undertake diagnostics, repair and maintenance of vehicles are
trained and competent to do so.
Ensure that the required number of engineers are trained (and where available, licenced) and
competent to fulfil the required repair and maintenance of vehicles.
Ensure there is a process to monitor and audit the engineering policies on a regular basis to ensure
all aspects of this Global Standard, and local policy, are met.
Ensure all tooling and equipment is maintained and calibrated where required.
The Engineer´s line manager must:
The engineer´s line Manager will be held accountable for ensuring Engineers have the
necessary training, experience and currency to meet the legal requirements as well as those in
the Group Maintenance Standards and policies, and that this documentation is maintained and
completed. Failure to do so will be dealt with in accordance with the company’s progressive
discipline policy and serious failings may be considered as gross misconduct.
