This monitoring must include a robust process for auditing to ensure that vehicle safety inspection
standards are being implemented to the required standard. This will include:
Defects are being reported in line with the set criteria
The proportion of defects being cleared by action
The proportion of defects being cleared by re assessment (for example as “serviceable”)
Ensuring all documentation is completed fully and correctly
Documentation is being signed off before the vehicle is released for service
Rectification work is to the required standard
Where any part of the inspection process is not compliant with Group Company local policy (and the
requirements to this Global Standard) remedial action must be put in place to address any shortfalls
immediately. Any root cause is to be identified and actions put in place to remedy any non-compliance.
Where defects that breach local regulatory requirements are consistently being identified on inspection, or
that multiple critical faults are being identified on every inspection, Group Companies must investigate if this
is due to a specific component issue or if the inspection criteria are inappropriate in timespan or technical
content.
7.0 Routine Testing by Relevant Standards Agencies
All Group Company vehicle safety inspection policies must contain a process for the preparation and
presentation of vehicles for routine test by the relevant local authorities.
If the inspection date is more than 14 days prior to the test date, it is strongly recommended that vehicles
undergo a secondary (interim) inspection. Note that this need not be a full vehicle safety inspection,
however it is recommended that all statutory/testable items are checked.
8.0 People
