With the growing success of her brother’s business, the family was

able to buy a home in the Kendall Green neighborhood of Weston,
Massachusetts. A grand and expansive property, the family was to reach

the promise of America at last. Hannah’s brother, now a successful re-
tail merchant, purchased the property. She lived there with him, her fa-

ther, her brother John who had returned home to farm the land, and
her nephew Grover. Her father, who she had looked after throughout

his senior years, passed away in 1907 of pneumonia. Her beloved
brother Jeremiah passed away in 1912 of valvular insufficiency of the

heart. She was heart-broken and yet committed to remain the mainstay
of the family.
