Loading & Startup
Step 1
Lid Removal
1. Before removing the M1’s lid, be sure to open the lid clamps (photo 1) or the lid will be damaged.
2. Set the lid on a clean surface in such a way as not to damage the lid gasket material.

Lid Clamps
1. Prior to loading the M1 with soil, check to make sure that there is no damage to the inside of the M1.
2. Check to make sure that the element housings (pipes) are in their individual posi ons with each end
secured.
3. Fill the M1 with sludge to within 7 to 10 inches from the top. Be sure to load the unit evenly.
4. Clean o the top edges of unit where lid closes and gasket touches
5. Install the lid
6. Close the lid clamps (hand- ght)
Step 3
Startup
1. Check to con rm that the M1’s Power Control Panel door is properly closed and locked.
2. A ached the main electrical feel line from the generator (Photo 3).
3. Turn the main power disconnect switch on the M1 Power Control Panel to the “on” posi on.
4. Verify that Chromalox 1604 Temperature Controller on the front of the M1’s Power Control Panel is
showing both the current element temperature and the setpoint temperature.
5. Use the up and down arrows on the Chromalox 1604 Temperature Controller to adjust the setpoint
temperature to 800 F.
6. Once every hour, increase the setpoint temperature by 200 F. un l it reaches 1250 to 1550 F.
