In 1948, Jackie began his career in radio with a regular spot as a sportscaster
with WMCA radio. In late 1949, several financial opportunities arose out of
his Most Valuable Player season, including a daily radio show on the ABC
network, two weekly sports shows on WJZ-TV, and a Hollywood movie.
