Diaconate 2020 Annual Report

The board of Deacons responsibilities include the coordination and execution of the Sunday morning worship
service, communion, baptisms, funerals, and decoration of the sanctuary for Christmas and Easter. The board also
works with the Director of Congregational Ministries and the Hospitality Committee on the “Hands to Work, Hearts
to God” sign-up to fulfill the other roles on Sunday including greeters, ushers, lay leader, hosting coffee hour and
providing flowers.

2020 was unlike anything we have seen in the past due to Covid-19 Pandemic. Outdoor services in the parking lot
and in-person services with the majority of the congregation attending worship virtually on Facebook and Youtube.
Members of the board of deacons include youth who chose to serve Pilgrim Church after their Confirmation. We are
happy to welcome Jamie Davis from the Confirmation Class of 2020. He will be joining past confirmation students
Emily Flynn, Lauren Geary, Ella Dodge and Sarah Parrish.
Other members of the board this coming year include: Dominic Walsh (Chair), Jim Hartman (Scheduling), Rae
Dearborn (Secretary) Doug Ambos, Eric Dragsbaek, Betsy Rigby, Jim May, Dan Geary, Susan McBride and Faith
Carlson.

The deacons would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Doug Ambos, who without his expertise, we would not have
been able to transition so smoothly to remote services. A very special to thanks to our “retiring” deacons, Donna
Hosmer for her many years of service on diaconate and our junior deacons Brendon Geary, Anna Scott Johnson and
Daniel Hartman.
