Pine-Richland School District - Return to School
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Parents
A: Yes. Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions and enrichments will be offered during RAM time. Students will
transition to the designated classrooms for small group instruction at student desks rather than small
group tables.
Q: Are safety protocols in place for students who need support that require close contact (i.e., life
skills)?
A: The district is taking all precautions and developing procedures with students who have intensive
needs at all levels. Teachers will be in contact with families to share these safety protocols. The district is
working on strategies such as putting marks on the floor (ex. X’s, circles) so there is a visual for where
students need to be. We are also considering the use of plexiglass dividers, study carrels, and cubbies for
individual student’s belongings. Additionally, based on student needs, students will be provided social
stories to review expected behaviors and physical distancing.
Q: How will small group instruction take place?
A: Teachers will ensure that students are physically distanced from each other to complete small-group
instruction. The above-mentioned strategies will be used with the avoidance of small tables being used.
Q: Will there be designated spots or times when students can take their masks off?
A: If a student is alone in the sensory room, they can take their mask off. Students will need to follow
regular sanitary procedures. Outdoor “brain breaks” may be utilized as a time for mask removal while
maintaining appropriate distancing. All mask breaks will be coordinated by an adult.

Q: When should I return my Chromebook/Laptop?
A: Each building will host a laptop and textbook return session. You will receive communication from
your building indicating what time you should drive up and drop off books and laptops (with charger and
plug). If you have removed the identification sticker on the laptop please use masking tape and write your
child's name, 2019-2020 Homeroom teacher and student ID or laptop reservation number on the device.
Q: How will I get my laptop back or new laptop I requested?:
A: Your child’s school will host a technology pickup. The district will communicate more details on the
pickup. A parent and their student will be able to park, enter the building and report to a central location
to sign out the laptop.
Q: Will my laptop be sanitized?
A: Any returned Chromebooks/laptops will be disinfected before recirculated.
Q: What special devices does the district have to enhance learning virtually and how will the virtual
class look?
Teachers have interactive display boards in each classroom. They are equipped with a web camera and
loudspeaker. Children in grades 7-12 will be able to log on to Google Classroom to stream the video and
also interact with the classroom. Children in grades K-6 will have a teacher dedicated to virtual-only
classes. The district purchased sound amplification systems that will help students in the classroom and
virtually hear the teacher who will be wearing a face mask.
