2. Continue to review, revise, and monitor for consistency (all grade 5 math classes)
common assessments with a focus on targeted areas of evidenced need.

○ Major Action Items: (1) meet as a grade level content team and ensure that all
teachers are utilizing the common assessment; (2) review PSSA Mathematics
Item and Scoring Sampler to ensure students are exposed to released items; (3)
reinforce consistent expectations across grade level for student work production
(show work, number sentences, strategies); compare students’ results on common
assessments and discuss as a team the instructional strategies leveraged to obtain
those results
3. Gain a deeper understanding of PA Assessment Reporting Categories, Eligible Content,
and PA Glossary of Terms and ensure the eligible content/vocabulary is embedded in
grade five math classes.

○ Major Action Steps: (1) Ensure that all identified terms outlined in the PA Math
Glossary are incorporated in instruction and assessments; (2) expose students to
learning activities that reinforce key vocabulary concepts.
4. Revise the essential lesson components identified in the first year of implementation of
new math series to best leverage the resource for learning.
○ Key Personnel: Grade 4 math teachers
○ Timeline: November 2019-ongoing
○ Major Action Steps: (1) Review current essential lesson components (problem of
the day, Quick check, etc.) and revise to reflect lessons learned from
implementation year; (2) communication and collaboration between all fifth grade
math teachers to ensure consistent implementation of these identified lesson
components.
