other words, “Give us the chance to testify
that that didn't happen with the apostle
Paul.” So it was probably out of fear.
Now, here's something very interesting.
Paul said in verse 16, “I pray God that it may
not be laid to their charge.” Paul never got
bitter over this, and he had their interest in
mind even before his execution. He realized
the weakness of our faith. And I know of
two others who said the same thing. In Luke
23:34, as the Lord Jesus cried from the cross,
He said the same thing. He said, “Father,
forgive them; for they know not what they
do;” and then in Acts chapter 7, verse 60, as
Stephen is being stoned and becoming a
martyr in the New Testament, he basically
