to more than preachers.  It applies to each



             and every one of us here today.  And as we



             consider the passage here, this is Paul's last



             letter.    He  is  facing  death.  We  know  that



             because of verse 6, and he's facing death for



             the cause of Christ. He's in prison; he's in



             Rome; he's before Nero. This is probably his



             first  hearing.  He's  going  to  be  sentenced,



             and  we  know  the  story  there.  But  notice



             what he says in these few verses.  He said in



             verses 16 through 18:




                    “At my first answer no man stood with



                    me,  but  all men forsook  me: I  pray



                    God that  it  may  not  be  laid  to  their

                    charge.  Notwithstanding  the  Lord


                    stood with me, and strengthened me;
