                  Do you remember what day it was in 1776



           that George Washington crossed the Delaware?



           It was Christmas day.  He was really honoring



           the day, wasn't he? He fought a battle on that



           day.    On  the  other  side  were  the  German



           Hessians, and George Washington won the



           battle on Christmas day because the Hessians



           were celebrating.




                  Now, I'm not saying I'm for all of this.  I'm



           just telling you what was the reality.




                  “In  early  American  history,  the  Puritans



           passed  similar  laws  as  in  England.    In  New



           England  the  observance  of  Christmas  was



           suppressed.  The  New  Englanders  worked



           steadily  through  December  25th,  1620,  in
