Financial Remuneration
I’m not against compensating a biblically
and spiritually qualified pastor for his full-
time work in the ministry. First Timothy
5:18 says, “Thou shalt not muzzle the ox
that treadeth out the corn. And, The
labourer is worthy of his reward.” But
God’s Word does not authorize
compensation for any other position in the
church or in Christian ministry. In 1
Corinthians 12, God gives equal value to all
members of the body of Christ, so to
compensate church workers other than full-
time preachers and teachers of God’s Word
is not only unscriptural, but it conveys more
worth to some members of the body of
Christ than to others.
