righteousness that God desires for all His children

to walk upon. Although obedience to God and a

departure from sin has always been a deep-down

desire of my heart since I became a Christian, I

regret to have to say that at times I succumbed to

peer pressure from both professing Christians and

nonChristians alike to “let up” in my commitment

to obedience and godly living. But I’ve come to the

conclusion and it’s been my experience that the

difference between a truly born again Christian and

one who only professes to be a Christian is not

whether or not that person sins but how that

person relates to sin in his or her life. Sin grieves

the heart of a true Christian. Rather than try to

look for “loopholes” or “gray areas” in God’s Word

to justify or excuse their sins, true Christians abhor

their sins and desire to forsake them. Romans 12:9
