tells believers to “abhor that which is evil; cleave to

that which is good.”

Living the Christian life in a way that is pleasing

to God does not require perfection but God does

desire a commitment to obedience from His

children. Because Christians are saved by grace

does not give a Christian license to disobey the

Word of God. Romans 6:1-2 says, “What shall we

say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may

abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead

to sin, live any longer therein?”

A commitment to “live godly in Christ Jesus,”

however, will result in suffering persecution.

Second Timothy 3:12 tells believers that “all that

will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer

persecution.” For that reason, many Christians

will do anything EXCEPT live godly lives and will
