pituitary fossa. Images a and d are comparable images oriented in the sagittal plane. The pituitary gland is markedly enlarged
(height = 23 mm, depth = 29 mm) and extends dorsally into the hypothalamic and thalamic regions. The mass has mixed T1 and T2
intensity compared to deep gray matter (a–c) and signal void on the gradient echo sequence (f), indicative of diffuse intralesional
hemorrhage. The mass is peripherally contrast enhancing, suggesting poor perfusion centrally. This was confirmed to be a pituitary adeno-
carcinoma with central hemorrhage and necrosis on postmortem examination.
