Earlier, the Ministry of Manpower had revealed that some provinces would receive the highest
and lowest minimum wages by 2022.
Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah also affirmed that based on Governmental Regulation (PP) No.
36 of 2021, the new formula for determining UMP aims to reduce the minimum wage gap and
realize a fair salary amount in each region in Indonesia.
Director General of Industrial Relations and Social Security Development at the Ministry of
Manpower, Indah Anggoro Putri, noted that Jakarta was the city to still have the highest
minimum wage.
Putri pointed to an average increase in minimum wage by 1.09 percent next year.
Putri revealed that based on the statistics of the general minimum wage, the lowest provincial
minimum wage was forecast at Rp1,813,011 (US$127) in Central Java.
The highest minimum wage projected in Jakarta was Rp4,453,724 (US$312.94), which rose from
Jakarta's 2021 UMP of Rp4,416,186 (US$310.3).
