        BILL HITCH
        The bill hitch shown in this
        photo sequence is made with
        large-diameter rope and is
        useful when the knot has to
        be made and untied quickly.
        Method
        Pass the rope forward
        through the mouth of the
        hook (1); then wind the end
        around the hook to form a
        simple knot (2). Pull the
        standing part and the knot
        will automatically set itself
        tight (3).
