This is the best hook knot for
medium-diameter rope, as the
strain is equal on both sides.

Method
Form two loops and twist
them three or four times
clockwise under equal
tension (1, 2). Pass the two
loops over the hook (3). The
knot is tightened by pulling
the standing parts.
