Waxholm Kalesi
Bu kale 16. yüzyılda Gustav Vasa tarafından yapılmış. 1’inci Gustav, 1523 ile 1560 yılları arasındaki İsveç kralıdır. İlk olarak 1521’de Danimarka Kralı II. Christian’a karşı İs- veç Bağımsızlık Savaşı’nı başlatmış ve 6 Haziran 1523’te kral olmuş ve Kalmar Birliği’ne son vermiş. Gustav Vasa zamanında ülke çok gelişmiş, toprakları büyümüş. İşte Binton Körfezi’nin kalbinde yer alan bu adalar ve başkenti korumak amacıyla bu adaya bir kale yaptırmış. Danimarka ve Rus savaşlarına tanıklık etmiş olan kale, bu savaşlarda çok önemli roller üstlenmiş. Zarar görmüş olsa da zaman içinde birçok defa restore edilmiş. Bugün de bölgenin en meşhur köşelerinden biri olan kalenin içini gezerken insan adeta geçmişe yolculuk yapıyor.Mükemmel bir doğa, ola- ğanüstü bir tarihle buluşuyor insan burada. Tarihi sonu- na kadar hissetmek isteyenler burada kale içinde de ko- naklayabiliyor. Harika bir pansiyon ve kafeler var burada. Ayrıca kalenin içinde bir de müze var. Hem adaların hem de kalenin tarihini anlatan bir müze. insanlar bu kaleyi ve adayı gezerken büyük bir keyifle geziyor.

Vaxholm Fortress
This fortress was built by Gustav Vasa in the 16th centu- ry. Gustav I was King of Sweden between 1523 and 1560. Firstly, he started the Swedish War of Liberation against King Christian II of Denmark and became King on 6 June 1523 and ended the Kalmar Union. During Gustav Vasa’s reign, the country was very developed, the territory grew. Therefore he built this fortress to protect the capital and these islands that are located in the heart of Binton Bay. The castle, which has witnessed the Danish and Russian wars, played a very significant role in these wars. Although it has been damaged, it has been restored many times over time. Today, when you are walking around the fortress, which is one of the most famous corners in the region, it is like you are taking a journey to the past. You can witness the per- fect nature and the extraordinary history. Those who want to experience the history more, can stay in the fortress. A great hostel and cafes are available here. There is also a mu- seum inside the fortress. A museum that tells the history of both the islands and the fortress. People visit this fortress and the island with great pleasure.
