Ülkenin 2013 sayımına göre nüfusu yaklaşık 4 milyon. Başkent Saraybosna’nın nüfusu ise yaklaşık 700 bin. Boş- naklar ülkenin yüzde 50’sini, Sırplar yüzde 30’unu, Hırvatlar ise yüzde 20’sini oluşturuyor. Bu sebeple Bosna-Hersek, ülkeyi oluşturan Boşnaklar, Hırvatlar ve Sırplar olmak üze- re üç etnik gruba ev sahipliği yapıyor. Tüm Bosna-Hersek halkına Bosnalı, ancak Türkçe’de tarihten gelen yakınlık- tan dolayı Boşnaklar denildiği zaman Bosnalı Müslümanlar kastedilir. Ayrıca ülkede Bosnalı veya Hersekli olmak da ayrı etnik kimliği vurgulamak için kullanılıyor. Ülke, hem yöne- tim hem de sınır bakımından Bosna-Hersek Federasyonu ve Sırp Cumhuriyeti olarak ikiye bölünmüş.
According to the country’s 2013 census, the population is about 4 million. The capital Sarajevo has 700 thousand inhabi- tants. Bosnians constitute 50 per cent of the country, Serbs 30 per cent for and Croats 20 per cent. Bosnia and Herzegovina is therefore home to three ethnic groups, the Bosnians, Cro- ats and Serbs. All inhabitants of Bosnia and Herzegovina are called Bosnians yet Muslim Bosnians are referred to Boşnak (Bosniak) because of their close proximity to Turks throughout history. In addition, being Bosnian or Herzegovinian is used to highlight the separate ethnic identity.The country is divided into two as the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Re- public of Serbia, both in terms of governance and border.
