DAVID’S SUNDAY BOCCE RIDE: A small group of WSW’s turned up on Sunday, although the weather
was absolutely perfect. 2 trikes, 1 bike and 4WD that was packed up for an adventure after the ride.
Derek has put our rooftop camper on the car to trial it again after so many years of being ignored. The
question being, can we manage the ladder to the top of the car at bedtime? Well, it was about time we
found out. Meanwhile, thoughts back to the morning’s ride. David led us through Amarillo Drive,
Paganoni Rd and back through Mandurah to the Leprechaun Café in Dawesville. While we were there,
and after refreshments, Len and Elaine, (Elaine is now 100% fit again) joined us for the morning
challenge of Bocce. David explained how the game works and we all decided to have “Guys n Gals”
teams. The teams would play amongst themselves and the best out of 5 rounds from each team, would
play off… 1 guy and 1 gal. Everyone was trying very hard to hit or get close to the little white ball and
laughter could be heard all around. We adopted 2 little helpers along the way, and they through our
little white ball each time we needed them to. Finally, getting down to the wire, a very excited result
from the heats. David was the guy winner and I was the gal winner. So now…. Drum roll….. It’s the
play off! The best out of 3 rounds. I had put my gal team into cheerleading mode… Give us a J…give us
a U…. give us an L… (You know the rest.) Susan was sooo excited jumping up and down which made
her personal alarm start phoning for an Ambulance. Here I was trying to concentrate, laughing my
head off, hearing Susan’s chest talking and a phone dialling, it was hilarious. It took her quite some
time to cancel the ambulance and then she had to phone her family to say she was ok, no panic, she
was cheerleading. David thought we were trying to put him off his game, well, maybe a little bit, but
Julie Mc found out a secret… wink wink… David didn’t like short shots he preferred them longer. So
with that knowledge we let our little helpers throw the white ball and much to David’s dismay, we had
some short shots, (gotta have a strategy plan). Needless to say the gals won. Winner, Winner, chicken
dinner. Derek and I said our goodbyes to the riders and we went off to do some beach camping and
fishing. A great ride with friends and a little game of bocce really made the morning fun, thanks David.
