our by now traditional route along the N40 towards Mons and thence to Lille, Dunkirk and Calais, Alan
tried a newer route via Valenciennes. We were all happy to meet up for our train at Calais before our
goodbyes and separate routes home from Folkestone. Roll on the 2023 Belgian Classic!

Fatima's Moroccan restaurant*, Nailsworth, Glos, 9th July (Alan Hilton)

*Or rather, not! I've just got
          home from Nailsworth, Glos
          where a few people from
Ulysses South met for lunch. It
was a market day, and our
          intended lunch venue, Fatima's
          Moroccan restaurant, was
closed and so we had to go to
          the Britannia pub instead for
drinks and a snack lunch. After
lunch, we moved on to a coffee
shop and sat outside with two
          elderly ladies: Kathleen from
          Waterford in Ireland, and her
          friend who didn't say much.
          Turnout was lower than had
been hoped, and I suspect that
had to do with several lingering
cases of Covid. But it was a nice occasion.

Compton Abbas Airfield, 17th July (Nick Clamp)

A good day out at Compton Abbas Airfield with Alan,
Mike and Patrick. Lovely weather and we managed to
get a table with an umbrella for a bit of shade. No
flying unfortunately (this strip is noted for some
interesting vintage aircraft) but a lot of interesting
                                                           bikes were present.
