Twilight Ride
th
28 November 2021
After enduring the wettest November
on record, La Niña once again decided
to hang around uninvited and interrupt
our plans for a twilight ride. The
decision to call off the ride part of the
day meant the General Washington in
Stockton was still going to be attended
by those brave enough to be seen
arriving in tin-tops. I believe this also
had impacted the numbers that made
the effort as being seen getting out of a
car wearing a bike jacket in front of a
pub is probably not the best decision to make, however 12 people were brave enough to be
seen arriving in tin-tops to enjoy another night of socialising
The meals that were served were of generous proportions and as usual for some of us, our
eyes are usually bigger than our stomachs when ordering food. This was the case for Adele
and I as we had recently returned from a week and a
half of R&R which consisted of a lot of socialising with
food and drink in hand. After asking how the big the
Pizza was when ordering food, we decided on sharing
a Pizza and a Garlic Bread which was enough to top up
the already overindulged bodies we still had (I would
say the size was the same as a family sized Pizza
bought from a retail Pizza supplier).
It was good to catch up with a usual Wednesday rider,
Len Mawkes who joined us with his wife and enjoy
some motorcycle banter with them. This was also a
good opportunity for Mike to present Len with his
Ulysses 70 year badge. It was an enjoyable evening
with good food and good company and a more
comfortable ride home afterwards.
