ANZAC DAY PARADE REVIEW
The day began a little gloomy as rain was forecast for the afternoon, but this didn’t stop the crowds from
turning out in force.
We three musketeers (Bas, Ben and Brock) from Ulysses Joondalup, made our way to the Causeway car
park for a meet up with other ex-military bike riding enthusiasts and the Military Brotherhood.
We then rode off to the pre-arranged launching pad in Sherwood Court and settled in for our turn to join the
Parade.
We had a bird’s eye view of the assembling Parade and a good chance to chat with vets, take many photos
and lots of back patting.
It was truly uplifting to see so many of these Diggers marching and giving their all to make it through to the
end of the parade, with some now well into their nineties. Very impressive, smart and deserving of a big
WELL DONE.
As the bands played on, we waved and applauded others. Our turn finally came to start your engines
gentlemen. A sense of excitement and dare I say it, pride as well, made this a very special time for us as
contributors to such an important gathering and occasion.
So, with all the flare and precision of a well-oiled drill team off we set into fame, fortune and historical bliss.
Well anyway we joined the parade as the last contingent anyway!
But seriously the reception was fantastic from the crowds, especially the kids and I’m sure the vast majority
were very accepting of our incorporation in the Anzac Day Parade and I’m sure we will be invited to join again
in the future.
Was it worth the effort I hear you say, of course it was, will we do it again, of course we will.
We hope to see more participants next year. Ride safe till then.
