Alistair’s York Ride - Sunday 3 March
Plenty of dark clouds, however, no rain that our wise weathermen had informed us was going to be dumped
on us.
Seven regular Sunday riders assembled at Beldon for the later winter start time of 8.30 after most of us,
forgetting the later start, arrived in time for an 8am departure.
Just meant more time to have coffee and chat.
Although I wasn’t last to arrive, I somehow drew the short straw and decided on a relatively short ride via
Wangara Rd, Reid / Tonkin Hwy and on to Toodyay Rd.
A right at Lilydale, left at Breeze Rd, right into Mayo Rd and a few new roads for some got us in to Wooroloo.
From there along Werribee Rd to Wundowie, then Coates Rd to Gt Eastern Hwy and arrival for coffee (+
pies) at Bakers Hill which was relatively quiet.
Jim (FJR) headed home from here to fix his broken down car and Dave also departed to attend a family
gathering.
We headed further along the Gt Eastern Hwy to Clackline and turned right for the 30km run into York.
I hadn’t been to York for ages and guess what, nothing had changed!
Very quiet and not many bikes, they’re probably all at Bindoon or Toodyay.
As several of us needed to be home by lunchtime it was a good ride back along the Gt Southern Hwy to
The Lakes and into Midland getting home by about 12.30pm after a 250km ride.
Thanks all for good company, an enjoyable ride and Jim for TEC duties.
