Roko Island
Experience a unique tropical getaway glamping in comfort with
beautiful ocean views. If it’s rest and relaxation you’re chasing
after the endless red dirt and corrugations, Roko Island is the
perfect place to find it.
Breakfast, a two-course lunch and 3 course dinner are all part
of the package.
You can check out the workings of a pearl farm or take an
exciting fishing trip with their experienced skippers.
Access to Roko Island is via Bamaga or Seisia. Pick up from
Punsand Bay, Thursday Island or Horn Island can be arranged.
Turtle Head Island
Beautiful Turtle Head Island, located at the mouth of the Escape
River, is the home of Torres Pearls, the largest working pearl
farm in Queensland.
Over time they have expanded their aquaculture expertise into
Mabe (blister) seeding both the Maxima shell, and Pteria
Penguin shell. Mabe pearls throw the most beautiful gold,
bronze and rainbow colours to make gorgeous one-off pieces of
jewellery.
A tour of the island and the pearl farm operation is an
unforgettable experience. Bron and Rusty welcome visitors -
just give them a call and let them know you’re coming.
Torres Pearls also offers a newly renovated cottage which sleeps
four adults plus kids. You’ll need to supply your own food and
drinks. Take your own boat or a charter with Cape York Ice &
Tackle - or make it the ultimate adventure via helicopter from
Punsand Bay.
If a trip to Turtle Head Island doesn’t fit into your schedule
Cape York Ice & Tackle are stockists of the beautiful Torres
Pearls.
