           Punsand Bay (Cape York Camping)
Punsand Bay sits on a stunning stretch of beach and is the
closest commercial campsite to the Tip. Catering for all modes
of camping - tents, campers, safari tents and cabins with
           ensuites.

Punsand Bay also has a fully licensed restaurant and bar with
one of the prime attractions, for the young and young at heart,
           its croc free swimming pool.

Helicopter flights are available throughout the tourist season,
and let’s face it, who doesn’t want a bird’s eye view over the
most northern point of Australia. Tours to Roko Island and half
or full day fishing charters can be arranged.

A not to be missed event at Punsand Bay is the Punsand Cup,
held Melbourne Cup Day - you’ll experience sand, sun and
unrivalled fun. With 2 races, a Calcutta auction, Fashion on the
Sand and much more - it’s just like the Melbourne Cup, only
           better!!!

Accommodation: Powered and unpowered sites, cabins, safari
tents, lodge bungalows, shelters and bush camping
Facilities: Swimming pool, shop, restaurant and licensed bar,
toilet and shower blocks and laundry

           Roma Flat
North along the coast from Punsand is the Roma Flat track, a
drive that will lead you on a narrow, sandy path exiting on to
the Pajinka road, not far from the Tip. A benign sandy track in
the dry, however, be warned - many tourists have made it
safely through the OTT only to meet their demise on Roma Flat
before it has had a chance to dry out after the wet.

A couple of k’s in you’ll come across the first of 2 muddy bog
holes. Be warned these have been known to reduce grown men
to tears on many occasions, claiming victims as late as
September/October. There’s a track around them for good
reason. If there’s water still laying around DO take a walk in
           before attempting to drive through.
