We would encourage you, our dear reader, to study this sefer for VOL-1 1
yourselves at a pace that is comfortable for you. please feel free
to copy portions of this sefer for your own personal needs as this
would have been the wish of the holy chafetz chayim.
The Chafetz Chayim writes that he composed five sefarim
specifically on the subject of Shemirat HaLashon: Sefer Chafetz
chayim, sefer shemirat Halashon i, sefer shemirat Halashon
II, Kuntres Chovat HaShemirah with the commentary of the
(Kuntres) Kevod Shamayim and Kuntres Zachor LeMiryam.
these and several other works of the chafetz chayim are
currently in progress and review in this series of translations:
Kuntres Zachor LeMiryam (which we hope to publish with
Hashem’s help in the very near future);
Kuntres Chovat HaShemirah and Kuntres Kevod Shamayim;
Kuntres Sfat Tamim;
Kuntres Tzipitah LeYeshua;
sefer nidchei yisrael
We pray that Hashem yitbarach will allow us to publish and
distribute all of these works and other works as well of the
chafetz chayim ZT”L.
regarding the title – Mazal elul:
in His shabbat derasha at the start of chodesh elul 5762,
chacham asher Hatchuel (the av beit din of the brooklyn
syrian community) began by saying it was no accident chazal
chose the betulah as that month’s mazal. that choice of
mazal is a paradigm for the approaching month of selichot, for
preparation towards the yamim no’raim and for life in general.
the symbolism is a chatan yearning to be with his bride as he
approaches life with gladness and optimism, responsibility and
trepidation. that concept of the mazal of elul is an approach to
life in all of man’s endeavors. it concisely depicts the framework
of this translation.
this sefer. We were introduced to Mr. yitzchak feldheim and
Mr. eli Meir Hollander at feldheim publishers who graciously
and patiently offered advice and guidance as the distributors of
this sefer. this sefer is being distributed throughout the united
states and israel.
during this time the translation of the entire sefer chafetz chayim
was completed. yishtabach shemoh la’ad, we were introduced
to more talmidei chachamim who would painstakingly review
every line of the translation. Over the course of the past five years
these rabbis toiled over the text of the translation and corrected
it and added their own footnoted comments to elucidate the text.
