I Heard You Crying Last Night
Dear Mother,
You are such a wonderful mother to me.
Although life yearns to make you feel different,
God wants me to tell you that he is so proud of you for
the decision you made to allow me to be born. He is
also proud of the choice you’ve made to walk upright
before him.
I’m so proud to be your son and so honored that
you’re my mother. I love to wake up to the smile on your
beautiful face, and I feel so safe and secure when you
sing to me at night. That helps me gently fall to sleep.
Thank you for having me christened when I was
born, and thank you for all of the sacrifices you make
so that I can have nothing but the best that life has to
offer.
Thank you for putting your life on hold so that I may
have all of your attention when you’re not working.
Thank you for holding me when I cry, changing my dia-
pers, feeding me, and making me eat the vegetables I
didn’t want. When my dad died, you took on the role of
being my mother and my father. I heard you crying last
night, and even though I’m only one year old, I want
you to know that I was praying for you.
