THE PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS (CONTINUED)
As we look back on our achievements, we must also recognize the
broader challenges we face. The recent Supreme Court decision on
affirmative action is a disappointment and a setback in our nation's
journey toward equality and equity. It threatens not only educational
opportunities but also the strides we've made toward a more inclusive
and equitable economy.
In the construction industry, Black women remain underrepresented,
facing barriers to advancement, unequal access to resources, and
isolation in the workplace. This results in significant income disparities
and must be addressed. Diversity is not just a buzzword; it drives
excellence. We must provide Black and minority females with access,
resources, and support to thrive in our industry.
NABWIC is resolute in our commitment to advocating for equal
opportunities and fair treatment. We understand that this setback will
not deter us but only strengthen our resolve. We will continue to
tirelessly work towards influencing policies that advance equity and
equality on every level of government.
In closing, I invite you all to join us in our journey. Now is the time to
collaborate and bring forth sustainable solutions that promote
equitable growth and economic opportunities across our great nation.
Together, we can make a difference.
Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to our cause.
Sincerely,
Tylene Henry,
(She/Her/Hers)
