Are Sales Scripts Inauthentic?
Sales scripts do indeed feel inauthentic – because they are cumbersome and awkward in the wrong hands. However many of us have a presentation that may have been delivered hundreds of times, and which to us may feel like a script, when in fact it is merely a finely tuned delivery. Ultimately transaction selling can be condensed down to a one-word label, COMMUNICATION.
The difficulty with cold calling is that the initial point of contact starts with little posture and less trust. The confident purveyor of a service they passionately believe in can usually warm up a prospect through charm, likeability and rapport.
Ever better styles of sales techniques, inclusive polished body language, tonal delivery pitch, glossier folders and jaw dropping Power Points may tweak the margins of performance improvement, but from my experience they pale completely when measured against the number one and often missing ingredient....
