THE STORM OF 2022
WOW!! May 21st was a day to remember for all of us in Ontario. This storm hit us hard in Central
Hastings, as we all rallied to survive, clean up the damage and wait for the hero's to rebuild our power
lines, beautiful things happened as people gather together to help and support each other.
This catastrophic weather event has prompted the municipalities and townships in the surrounding
communities to look at the disaster plans so the communities are better prepared. The question now is, how
many of us will be prepared for upcoming storms?
Speaking of storms, your local chamber of commerce has a few brewing in their pot! Have you purchased your community
coupon book yet? For $25 you will have a book of savings over $500, you can purchase them at many of our local retailers and at
the Chamber of Commerce office. Our annual golf tournament is coming up on August 21st, tickets are available at the Chamber
office - 84 St. Lawrence St. or at the Madoc Golf Course. Team of 4 is $300 and a single ticket is $ 75, the price of the ticket
includes dinner. Nominations will roll out this month for the Annual Business Awards and ticket sales will start as well for the
event. In the July edition of the News of 7 new events will be announced for our community and were getting ready for the
annual Christmas Parade as well.
In closing, for those who still don't have power, our thoughts and prayers are with you in hoping for a speedy recovery of the
power lines and remember your neighbors will help when you call upon them.
The Community Spirit is AWESOME in Hastings County!
