Police Officer Lawrence Thompson Star #4602
On July 2, Officer Lawrence Thompson was working in the 004th District in uniform on Beat 405 in the area of 79th Street and Colfax Avenue. The officer parked his car and left only to return and find an offender near his vehicle. The officer en- tered his vehicle, and the offender immediately opened the door of the squad car, raised a handgun and pointed it direct- ly at the officer’s head. With a decisive and lightning-quick response, the officer discharged his weapon, striking the of- fender. The offender fled but was apprehended immediately and treated for his wounds. The offender was subsequently charged.
