BACKGROUND
TIP: Use a soft, circular motion when brushing over the stencil and then reverse
the direction of the circular motion. This will redistribute any paint that might be building up on the stencil’s edges.
Load the 1/2" stencil pro brush with Titan Buff and, using a circular motion, wipe almost all of the paint off on a paper towel. Lay the Jardin des Oiseau stencil in place and again, using a soft circular motion, brush over the stencil. If you need to reload the brush, remember to remove most of the paint onto a paper towel before going over the stencil. Move the stencil around here and there to add some of the swirls and design in a variety of places. Repeat steps with the M2-3 Scroll stencil. Let dry.
Lightly go over the entire surface from left to right with the sandpaper or sanding pad. This will soften the look of the stenciled designs. Repeat steps for the foot of the iPad stand.
BIKE
Load the no. 2 shader brush with Raw Umber and paint the bike; let dry. Load the small mezzaluna brush with Quinacridone Gold and wipe most of it off on a paper towel and then dry-brush over the entire bike.
Wipe the brush off, load with Green Gold, wipe off almost all of the paint and dry-brush over the bike again. Repeat with Cobalt Teal Hue and finally Titan Buff. Make sure to dry- brush some brighter areas on the middle of the top bar, the center of the angled bar, and down the bar leading to the tire. If you feel like the bike is too light, simply paint a wash of Raw Umber over the area.
WHEEL SPOKES
Load the 3/8" angle brush with Payne’s Grey and slide on the chisel edge to paint the spokes. You can also use a liner brush of choice. Let dry. Load brush with Raw Umber and repaint the spokes. Add a touch of Titan Buff to the brush, mix on the palette and repaint a few areas here and there to give the appearance of some rust on the spokes.
BIKE HANDLE
Load the small mezzaluna brush with Cobalt Teal Hue and then wipe off most of the paint. Dry-brush the color on the handle. Wipe the brush off, load with Titanium White, wipe the paint off on a paper towel and dry-brush a highlight along the top of the handle.
