The Decorative Painter • ISSUE NO. 2, 2015
Midnite Green Napa Red Poodleskirt Pink Royal Fuchsia Violet Haze Warm White
PREPARATION
Sand the wood, wipe clean, then seal with Multi-Purpose Seal- er. Let dry, then sand again.
Apply one coat of Multi-Purpose Sealer+Light Buttermilk (1:1) to the top of the lid. Let dry, then sand smooth. Sponge the top of the lid with Warm White and Antique White using the sea silk sponge. Add a bit more Light Buttermilk.
Apply one coat of Multi-Purpose Sealer brush-mixed with Black Forest Green and Midnite Green separately to the outside of the base. Don’t over-blend. Using painter’s tape placed along the top edge of the stencil, affix the stencil to the base. Stipple the entire side with Antique White, Light Buttermilk, and Warm White. Lift off stencil.
Apply one coat of Multi-Purpose Sealer+Antique Maroon (1:1) to the inside of the base. Sand and wipe clean. If a second applica- tion is needed, use pure Antique Maroon.
Tear desired sections of the napkin and apply it to the top of the lid with Decou-Page Napkin Medium. Let dry. Lightly transfer the design using dark graphite.
