PAINTING TIPS
FLOATING
n Floating is achieved with practice but the end results are rewarding when the technique is conquered. Dip the angu- lar brush into water. Blot the brush gen- tly on paper toweling being careful not to push all the water out. Apply a small dot of paint on the long end of the an- gular brush. Blend it well on front and back, pushing down on the brush (re- peating about 10 times). Apply two or more coats to achieve the correct dark- ness or light. Always use the correct size of brush for the area being painted--the larger the area, the larger the brush. If you learned to float using a flat shader brush, by all means, use it.
RAKE BRUSH
n Using a rake brush can be rewarding in achieving a specific technique. To use, thin paint with water. Load rake brush with the thinned color and blot lightly. Moving away from the thinned color area, spread the hairs out in a half circle to separate them. Push the brush all the way down to the ferrule.
