  ACRYLIC
 LET’S PAINT
BASECOAT
Unless otherwise specified, use the brush most appropriate to the area. Apply two basecoats to each area with a watery mix of clean water+paint (3:1).
Yellow Ochre: Large center pumpkin, jack-o’-lantern, and small pumpkin on broomstick
Maple Sugar Tan: Lower edge of cream where it meets the large center pumpkin and cone hat
Moss Green: Jack-o’-lantern stem, top and bottom of summer squash, and all leaves
Roman Stucco: Center of summer squash and orange jellybeans AC Flesh: Summer squash stem and feather brim of the hat
Burnt Umber: Cat’s face, ears, and the broomstick
Ivory: Candy, cream on the hat, cream on top of large
pumpkin, and the center of the large pumpkin Dark Chocolate: Bats
Hippo Grey: Candy sticks and bat stick
Old Parchment: Berries and red jellybeans
Light Timberline Green: Green jellybeans AC Flesh: Branches, tendril, and vine
AC Flesh: Broom bristles
Georgia Clay: Border around edge
Allow to dry completely, and then transfer the details.
LARGE CENTER PUMPKIN
Shade each side of the pumpkin segments and across the bottom of the pumpkin with a sideload of Dark Goldenrod using the no. 8 filbert. Add a second shade with Dark Goldenrod+Burnt Um-
ber, and then strengthen with more Burnt Umber. Using the no. 8 flat’s chisel edge, stroke in the lines of the segments with Burnt Umber and Dark Chocolate. Highlight the wide center of each segment with Yellow Ochre. Shade the top
of the pumpkin with Raw Sienna.
SUMMER SQUASH
Shade the top and the bottom of the summer squash with Avocado using the no. 6 filbert. Shade the left side of the bottom with Avocado+Red Iron Oxide, and then strengthen with more Burnt Um- ber. Highlight the center of the squash segments with Moss Green using the no. 6 filbert. Using the no. 10/0 liner, stroke in the twisted lines of the segments
with Red Iron Oxide, Burnt Umber, and Moss Green. Shade the center of the summer squash using the no. 8 flat with Georgia Clay. Continue to shade with Georgia Clay+Avocado. Strengthen the shade on the left side with
Burnt Umber. Highlight the center with Yellow Ochre.
