Sta-new Brush Holder Introduced
JAY STATEN
Our friends at Masterson Art Products invite you to throw away the old cans and jars you currently use for your paintbrushes. They have just introduced their Sta-New Brush Holder which promises to protect and organize your brushes. It also provides the best way possible to dry brushes by hanging them with the bristles down.
The Sta-New Brush Holder is made of clear high-grade plastic. The brush holder stands about 41⁄2" (11.4cm) tall and is designed with ten brush slots, each lined with a rubber grip. In addition, the Sta-New comes with a base tray that will easi- ly catch drips as your brushes dry. Assembly is quick and easy, and the entire brush holder can be mounted to an easel, wall, or workbench, or it can be used as a desk caddy. This allows for quick access to your brushes no matter where you paint. If you decide to use it as a desk caddy, Masterson has included Velcro rounds so that you can secure it in one place.
While testing the Sta-New Brush Holder, I found the product to be very sturdy and worked as promised. The
rubber grips did an excellent job of holding the brush up off the base, so that they could air-dry quickly. The plat- form is plenty deep enough to prevent splashing paint from drippy brushes. And since the base is compartmen- talized, I used one compartment for water as I worked on a watercolor project.
The brush holder is designed to handle six smaller brush- es and four larger brushes. This is plenty of space to handle the brushes you are working with at any one time. I was disappointed that it cannot hold more brushes at any one time. Since I tend to work in various mediums, I often have a number of brushes sitting on my table at any one time. Of course, the brush holder is small enough that having two on my table would solve my problem.
The Masterson Sta-New Brush Holder is made in the United States. It retails for around $25 and is available from arts and crafts stores or online with art suppliers. Find a dealer by visiting www.mastersonart.com.
