 the basket. Allow to dry. Add a few brighter highlights us- ing the 1⁄4" stippler with Snow White.
EYEs: Add the eyes using a no. 2 flat with Lamp Black. Highlight the eyes with a float of Snow White. Add a high- light dot with Snow White.
nosE: Add the nose using a no. 2 flat with Lamp Black. CHEEKs AnD EARs: Dry-brush the pink of the ear and blush of the cheeks using the 1⁄4" crescent with Carousel Pink.
GRASS
Using a 1⁄4" rake, pull grass lines of Hauser Dark Green, and then Hauser Medium Green. It is not necessary to put in all the grass at this time, just the grass that will go be- hind the flowers.
FLOWERS
Transfer the design for the flowers, flower stems, and ladybugs. Review the Step-by-Step on page 31 be- fore beginning.
DAISIES
Stroke in the center of the flower using a no. 10/0 liner with Golden Straw. Shade the center with Burnt Sienna, and highlight with Taffy Cream. Stroke in the petals with Snow White.
DAFFODILS
Basecoat the trumpet of the flower, including the cen- ter, using a no. 2 flat with Golden Straw. Shade behind the center with Tangelo Orange. Be sure to make the shade wide enough that it will still show after the ruffle of the flower is placed. Add the ruffle of the flower using the no. 2 filbert with Snow White. Basecoat the centers with Tangelo Orange. Using the no. 2 filbert with a double-load of Snow White and Golden Straw, stroke in the back petals. Shade the bot- tom crescent of the oval centers with Tomato Red.
sTEMs: Add all the stems to the flowers before proceed- ing, using a no. 10/0 liner and Hauser Dark Green followed by Hauser Medium Green.
CORAL BELLS
Double-load a no. 2 filbert with Tangelo Orange and Tangelo Orange+Snow White. Keeping the light side to the outside, stroke in the petals.
FOXGLOVE
Using a stylus with Poodleskirt Pink create oval shapes for the flower heads. Allow to dry. Add a smaller dot to- ward the top of previous oval representing the flower cen- ters using the stylus with Carousel Pink.
HEATHER
Begin by using a 1⁄4" stippler with Hauser Dark Green to stipple in the background. Then double-load a 1⁄8" stippler with Dioxazine Purple and Purple Cow. Stipple in three little clumps of flower tops with Purple Cow to- ward the top. Wipe the brush. Using the dirty brush, tip the light side of the brush in Snow White and tap in a little highlight.
LADYBUGS
Basecoat the body of the bug using a no. 4 flat with Tomato Red. Shade the body with Black Plum, and high- light with Fiery Red. Using a no. 10/0 liner, add the heads, antennae, and dots on the back with Lamp Black.
BLUE FLOWERS
Basecoat the centers with Golden Straw. Shade the centers with Burnt Sienna, and highlight with Snow White. Stroke in the petals using a no. 2 filbert loaded with Sapphire and tipped with Snow White. Pull from the outside in toward the center.
YELLOW DAISIES
Using a no. 2 flat dab in slightly squared dots of Golden Straw for the petals and center. Allow to dry. Dab in pet- als with Golden Straw+Snow White. Add a highlight to the center with Golden Straw+Snow White. Shade the bottom of the center with Burnt Sienna.
FINISHING
Add additional blades of grass and flower stems where needed, using a no. 10/0 liner with Hauser Dark Green and Hauser Medium Green. Add the baby’s breath flowers using a stylus with Snow White. Allow to dry thoroughly.
Erase any visible graphite lines. Varnish with DecoArt DuraClear Satin Varnish following manufac- turer’s instructions.
