6.With Antique Gold and the liner brush, paint the stamen with two coats to make it dark enough. Float Deep Burgundy at the bottom of the stamen where
it attaches to the flower. Then paint a Burnt Umber line on the left side to make a shadow. Float Burnt Umber behind the stamen on both sides to deepen the shadow. With liner, paint a Snow (Titanium) White line below the pods on the stamen for a highlight.
7. With the stylus, put three vertical groups of three on the stamen. The two side groups are Antique Gold, the center group is Marigold with a tiny Snow (Titanium) White dot on each Marigold dot.
8.The tiny five-point star at the top of the stamen is Antique Gold with Light Buttermilk highlight on each branch. With the stylus, place a Watermelon Slice dot at the end of each tiny branch and a tiny Snow (Titanium) White dot on each red dot.
9. To make the petals look more rounded, dry-brush a Snow (Titanium) White highlight in the center of each petal.
10.Outline the outer edge of each petal with the liner brush and Burnt Umber.
HIBISCUS LEAVES
Paint each leaf separately. Leaves are painted in long contour strokes, following the shape of the leaf, wet-on- wet, with a #6 round brush and Holly Green, Black Green, and Irish Moss. Paint each leaf in this manner wet-on-wet:
1. Basecoat the entire leaf solid with Holly Green.
2.Wipe Holly Green off the brush and load brush with Black Green. Paint shape-following contour strokes, side by side, from lower edge of the leaf toward the center area, painting over the Black Green, until the Black Green disappears.
3.Rinse brush and load with Irish Moss. Immediately start at the top edge of the leaf, painting Irish Moss side by side in shape-following contour strokes to the center area, overlapping the previous strokes until the Irish Moss disappears.
You should see a nice blending of greens on each leaf. DO NOT put the Identipen linework on the leaves at this time. It will be done when everything is painted.
4.When leaves are completely dry, float Black Green with the 1/2" angle or flat brush around the outside edges of the hibiscus petals, creating a deep shadow between the hibiscus and the leaves.
OHIA TREE (RED SPIKEY FLOWERS), BERRIES AND LEAVES
1. Paint layers of color to form each flower. The spikey areas are painted in thin strokes in order, drying in between: 1) Antique Gold with #2 round brush, then switch to your liner for the rest of the color layers:
