MY SUMMER JOY
Being self-taught, I am over the moon that I, Robyne Recca, designed and painted something so unique and creative that now I am here, nestled in these pages, with you.
The “big brushes”...WOW!
When mom lived with me years ago, we’d sit out on her deck just enjoying life. When she passed, a part of me was gone too.
Peggy Harris shared a picture of a flower
on a fence, and the caption read, “EXTREME PAINTING”. I thought, maybe I too could paint something that could give me joy once again.
The first panel was the tree; I painted it so the real tree behind the fence was an extension of my painted tree, adding flowers and rocks too. This was the start of my obsession. My goal – JOY

I had never painted rocks, birch trees
or wildlife before, and struggled with perspective, so this was an undertaking into something quite unfamiliar. “I was on the fence” was my summer’s expression.
I am now filled with joy again!
Every time I picked up a piece of chalk, I smiled and thought of Linda Lover; she taught me how to save time, and sent me pictures of her work to inspire as well. I thank my friend Valerie Parise, who helped me with my bench, and Lori James, who sent me perspective drawings.
There are so many wonderful artists who have inspired and kept me going with their knowledge: David Jansen, who taught me more in the past year than all the years I’ve painted; Berta and Engie Fili, Nancy Medina, Lexi Sundell, and so many others!
If I could, I’d like to dedicate my fence to my friend Cindy Nichols, who came here every week just to spend time with ME! Thank you Cin!
