 PREPARATION
Lightly sand surface and wipe with a damp cloth to remove any dust. I usually do not seal my wood, but you can if you prefer. Basecoat the inside of the plate with Black Plum. The border is painted Poetic Plum. The double beaded borders are painted Thicket. I continued the Thicket around the outside edge and onto the back of the plate. When basecoating is dry, lightly paper bag sand to smooth the raised nap. Apply pattern.
STENCILED BORDER
With a small pair of scissors, carefully cut out the smallest cluster of leaves (four (4) leaves with their stem) from the center of the stencil. I used this to stencil around the border with Black Plum. I just kept moving the stencil around the border as I worked, slightly changing the flow of the leaves. I tried to make it appear that the leaves were gracefully joined together encircling the border. Using your liner, lengthen the stems, here and there, if necessary to try to achieve this look.
