LET’S PAINT
TULIPS
1. Basecoats: The two back petals are Deep Burgundy. The front petals are True Red. Dry.
2. Use the 1/2" angular brush to float Deep Burgundy at the base of the side petals and next to the center petal to shade. Mop to soften if necessary.
3. Float Burnt Orange on the center front petals, starting at the top and working down about one third (1/3) of the way. Repeat if necessary to intensify the color.
4. Float Cadmium Yellow at the tips of the center petals, mopping to soften.
5. Use the #10 sable round brush to paint a Cadmium Yellow comma stroke starting at the tip of the center petal and ending about halfway down the right side of it.
6. Stems are Irish Moss. Flatten the tip of a liner brush to apply the paint.
7. Line next to each stem with Plantation Pine.
8. Tulip leaves are shaded by floating Plantation Pine down
the sides that face the tulips.
9. Use Plantation Pine to paint the receptacle at the base of the petals. (Yes – I actually looked that that up for
proper verbiage!)
BLUE FLOWERS
1. Each petal is Salem Blue. When dry, lightly float across the top of each with Antique White to highlight.
2. Centers are pounced with Cadmium Yellow; then wipe the brush and load a tiny amount of Bright Orange to pounce into the bottom area of the center. When dry, use a small flat brush to add an Antique White highlight at 2:00 in each center. Use a stylus to dot around the centers with
Victorian Blue.
3. Stems are lines of Plantation Pine.
4. Use the round brush to make stroke leaves with
Plantation Pine.
5. Use the stylus to dot a row of Planation Pine down each stem.
