 Step 5: Paint a U-type stroke that connects to the outside edges of the inner upper petal, stroke as shown.
Step 6: Continue with U-type strokes that flow over the front of the rose as illustrated.
Step 7: Continue with comma-like strokes over the front of the flower and on the lower petals as illustrated. I have illustrated these strokes without the undercoat strokes on the rose. (Figure A)
Step 8: Finish the rose with as many flowing strokes as necessary. Each rose you paint will be quite different as you can tell by my illustrations. It takes a lot of practice. Don’t be discouraged; practicing 100 roses is not an exaggeration.
